A few nice stairway elevator images I found:

Stairway in Tour Eiffel

Stairway in one of the pillars of the Eiffel Tower.
Below the steps, you can see the elevator shaft.
The entrance fee for the stairway is cheaper than that for the elevator. Besides, this is probably the faster way to enter the tower, as people can wait hours to take the elevator.

You think you’re being healthy. You choose the stairs instead of the elevator, and you run up the stairs. By the third landing, you’re starting to gasp for breath. And then some bastard walks by in the midst of a flatulence emergency! [koff] [choke]

I think you can figure it out, topquark… unless you need to buy a "D", an "S" or a "W". I used a free braille font. It wasn’t perfect.

  8. topquark22 says:

Very funny! The braille says: "IF YOU NEE TO FART U E T E TAIR AY". What does it mean?

Took a ‘business etiquette’ quiz one time:

Q: You’re on the elevator at work when you’re suddenly overcome by powerful flatulence. At the next floor, your boss, his boss the VP and her boss, the CEO all get onto the elevator. What do you do?

    A) Avoid eye contact and pretend there’s nothing wrong

    B) Mumble an apology and get off the elevator at the next stop

    C) Look each of them in the eye and challenge anyone to do better!

  16. rainspoo says:

HAHA, I love this … especially the fact that the braille was changed, awesome!

  17. The Reckless Libertine says:

    Great stuff!

Makes me wonder, though, just why the sign isn’t real. Particularly in *wait for it* WINDY HILL. Fnaaar, fnaaar, fnaaar. Okay, I’m going.

  21. SParadigm says:

No! I thought it was a real sign on a real elevator, in some classy
hotel somewhere. Now I find its just some lonely Flickr clicker with too much time on his hands.
    I am so disappointed.

  26. The Rocketeer says:

This sign is next to the elevator at the Hilton Garden Inn on Windy Hill in Atlanta, GA.

You do realize I altered it some… don’t you? Originally, it said "In Fire Emergency Do Not Use Elevator Use Stairways". I changed the words and adjusted the flames by turning them 90 degrees clockwise so as to appear as though they are coming out of the guy’s backside.

I also made sure the braille was appropriately changed too, by finding a braille font online.

    Here’s the original:

Ha, Hilarious sign, i’d really like to know where u discovered this sign, i like the fact that it include Braille as well! But the point being where is the sign placed so as to make appropriate use of using the Braille inscription

  28. khánh says:

haha! i guess flatulence emergencies affect everyone – that’s why the sign includes brail for the blind?

  29. Lars Plougmann says:

Hilarious. Where did you come across this sign? In Copenhagen, I came across an elevator with a call button that said "I fart".
